VAT calculator: add or remove VAT
Add VAT to a price, or take it out of one that already includes it. Set to the UK standard rate of 20%; change it for 5% or any other rate.
To add VAT at 20%, multiply by 1.2. To take it out, divide by 1.2, not take 20% off: £120 including VAT is £100 plus £20 VAT, while 20% of £120 would be £24.
The standard UK rate is 20%; some things, such as home energy, are at the reduced rate of 5%.
