BMI calculator for adults
Put in your weight and height. It works out your body mass index and which of the standard adult ranges it falls in.
BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres, squared. For adults, under 18.5 is underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 healthy, 25 to 29.9 overweight and 30 or more obese (the WHO ranges, which the NHS uses).
BMI does not tell muscle from fat, and some ethnic groups have a higher risk at a lower BMI. It is not for children, or for pregnancy. Speak to a GP about your own health.

Questions people ask
What is a healthy BMI for an adult?
18.5 to 24.9. Under 18.5 is underweight, 25 to 29.9 overweight and 30 or more obese.
Is BMI accurate?
It is a quick guide, not a diagnosis. It cannot tell muscle from fat, so very muscular people can show as overweight.
